Yesterday I was lucky enough to be part of a small group of bloggers invited to a Panasonic event at the Tower of London.
The event covered three main topics - The Ourplace and My-Place web sites, the new Lumix DMC-L10 DSLR, and the technology behind the full range of Lumix cameras.
I’m going to write individual posts for each of these over the next week or so, but I wanted to say a few words about the event itself.
This was the first time I’ve been invited to anything like this and to be honest I was a bit surprised - not just that they were asking me - but that they were asking bloggers at all. I’ve not heard of other camera makers doing anything similar, and it was certainly a first for Panasonic.
But I have to say it was both interesting and educational. After sitting through an hour long presentation (which was well done, but perhaps a little formal), we all had an hour or so to play with the cameras and ask questions. This was the most useful part of the event for me - there’s nothing quite like a little hands-on time.
Overall, I was extremely impressed with the event and its organisation. Although it was small (Panasonic staff and PR people outnumbered actual bloggers!), Panasonic had obviously put some thought into it. They obviously spent some money too, given we all went home with a free DMC-FX33 camera…
